You can probably count on one hand the number of Hip-Hop artists with the pedigree to score a collaboration with Bono, and though K’naan might not be one of the names that immediately pops to mind, it does make total sense. After all, K’naan has demonstrated a penchant for writing anthemic, globally accessible songs with socially conscious undertones, the kind of thing Bono has made a career out of with U2.
So it’s not all that surprising that Bono decided to lend his vocals to “Bulletproof Pride,” a track off K’naan’s new album, God, Country, or The Girl. And while the song’s chugging guitars and refined vocals are a bit on the safe side, it’s still one of the better offerings we’ve heard from K’naan this year. Here’s to hoping there are still some more Hip-Hop leaning tracks to look forward to on God, Country, or the Girl, which hits stores this week.
