To his credit, Rick Ross is like a good quarterback. He may toss an interception every now and then, but it’s the great signal callers who never dwell on them leaving the mistakes in the rearview. The Black Bar Mitzvah has been received by mostly negative reactions. Well deserved negative reactions, too.
For the most part, Ross is a guy who prides himself on quality and the lavishness of his music. TBBM, while not an official mixtape/retail project by any stretch, had the feeling of a project Ricky wanted to release for the hell of it. Truth be told, a simple five track EP would have sufficed much, much better. Either that or making sure Meek had another single in rotation before Dreams & Nightmares drops later this month.
That said, The Fat Man doubles back up with the visual for “Diced Pineapples,” one of the standouts from this summer’s God Forgives, I Don’t. It won’t distract from the bar mitzvah that no one bothered to celebrate, but it still serves as a good distraction.
