Upon initially viewing the track list to Rihanna’s Unapologetic, one song piqued my interest to the point where I vowed to break my rule of not listening to an individual leak until the entire album falls in my Gmail inbox. And here’s that one song, Rihanna’s duet with the KCi of this generation, Future.
Did I expect it to rival Rick and Teena’s “Fire & Desire”? Not exactly, but get high, have a few drinks and possibly call your local Molly man and I swear this could become the first song at somebody’s wedding in 2013. As an – wait for it – unapologetic fan of both Future and Rihanna, there’s approval in these words. Coming off different from my inaugural expectation, Rihanna actually caters to Future’s vibe more than the opposite. The end result turned into a love song of sorts for the kids. The kids who go to the strip club and get the world’s longest lap dance to this record, that is.*
* – Because best believe, this is one of those four in the morning, everyone’s drunk out of their mind songs.
