Let me get first on this one.
DPGC!! Most underrated classic of the golden days.
Daz and Kurupt, Kurupt and Daz.
Check the dirty version with Warren G on That Doggy Bag album that Death Row dropped earlier this year
Dre still won’t work with Daz till this day. Nobody ever brings that up. I think it has to do with him say in that he did the beats while Dre got credit. That and the Death Row uncut giving you directions to his and Snoops cribs while Daz was still on Death Row
The genius of Dre is in the details (such as the 808 drum increasing on the “There’s no mistakin, I can have the whole house shakin/ Young Daz in that…”).
I spoke to Missy (Elliott) this past week about how these amazing producers (Timbo included) always get called out for having others produce their records. They are producers. They produced the songs. Trust me. When you hear Danja and Polow da Don (but especially Nate) and question if they produced Timbo’s records… it is because they were his protégés. You bring them into the fold because of that fact – they were influenced by your style, and as such… their sound… sounds like yours.
That said… this record is one I still play to this day. It is timeless… (beyond what Teef brought up – the year being shouted out) and it is a classic.
Daz produced a great album with Dogg Food – but he also had a lot of help.
