You did listen to Lyrikill’s More Heart, More Sole last year, didn’t you? Well, if you didn’t you still have a chance to redeem yourself since the guy behind one of 2011’s best slept-on projects is back with his ode to yesteryear.
Retro is eight tracks of soulful production while Lyrikill waxes poetic about the city, shoes, and surroundings that created one of Hip-Hop’s new rising stars. Kill has a way of sputtering out syllables that appear like random puzzle pieces, but once they land on the table, you’ll see a puzzle put into place spelling out precisely the point he’s bringing home.
That’s enough of me, hit the play button below and listen to what’s promising to be on rotation for a while.
As a bonus, if you want Retro you can hit up his bandcamp, cop a T-shirt and get the album for free. Not a bad deal.
