Today’s Holiday Round-Up: The xx Cover Wham!, Big Boi Reads Dr. Seuss

There are only eight days left until Christmas, so musicians are dumping their last rounds of holiday covers and acknowledgments onto the internet. Today, we bring you two of note:

1. The xx’s covering of Wham!’s “Last Christmas”

Which is odd because Wham! was a 1980s, George Michael-induced coke dream. Also, videos like the one for the group’s timeless “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” are the antithesis of The xx’s sad-sackery. However, Romy, Jamie and Oliver give the song its proper due, imbuing enough millenial cool without dragging the track too deep down a black, maudlin hole.

And we all know that Christmas wouldn’t be complete without some rapper reading to fans a yuletide tale, which brings us to…

2. Big Boi’s reading of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas for Noisey

Because hearing Daddy Fat Saxxx recite Theodor Geisel’s best-known work needs no more set-up than asking that you hit play.
