To call 2009’s Star Trek a reboot undercuts the masterful work that director J.J. Abrams did to the franchise. The final product was perfectly paced, entertaining, endearing, exciting… hell, pick any glowing adjective that you want out of a hat, and you’d be correct. A sequel was inevitable, and now, after years of waiting, we have our hands on the first full trailer for Star Trek: Into Darkness.
The trailer shows a glimpse of British actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays antagonist John Harrison, and the special effects look top-notch. And really, when a movie in question is the follow up to one of the best science fiction films of the last 10 years, we’ll assume it’s awesome until proven otherwise.
* – My knowledge of Star Trek is very limited, so if you consider yourself a Trekkie and think you know who’s going to be f*cking things up for Captain Kirk, by all means, leave your thoughts in the comments.
