Look at that title. Just look at it. Regardless of how the meal is presented, merely digesting the word “OutKast” allows birds to chirp louder, food to taste better and the sun to shine brighter. Even if, in 2013, we’ve all accepted how things are will never be how they once were. After toying with notion of making his presence felt on Frank and Andre’s “Pink Matter” – from last year’s poignant Channel Orange – Big Boi delivered with a verse of his own.
Big and ‘Dre are are top-tier solo MCs without question. Still, nothing will ever replace the authentic chemistry of hearing them feed off one another. There just isn’t. And despite “Pink” not necessarily constituting as “new ‘Kast music,” something is indeed better than nothing. Who knows, possibly in an ideal world where the planets align, this, along with the forthcoming remix to T.I. and 3K’s “Sorry,” a seed may be planted.
All paperwork bullshit aside, if Big and Stacks want to record new music, they will. If they don’t, they won’t. It’s really just that simple. And while I’m sure they do, my only hope is both realize the magnitude of their bond. Neither want to wake up 15 years from now with the regret, “I wish we would’ve handled that differently.” Just ask Bun B how much this means.
