In what’s become an annual tradition, Nike’s set to Black History Month collection of footwear – for on the court and off – and apparel for 2013. Under the mantra “Be Bold. Be True.,” the gear utilizes shades of black, brown, orange and grey as well as the signature BHM print to create a bold, themed approach. The motif honors soccer star Didier Drogba, tennis great Serena Williams and hoops phenom Kevin Durant – all Nike athletes who are making a civic impact beyond athletics.
The signature basketball shoes will debut on court during pro basketball’s Martin Luther King Jr. tribute day on Monday, January 21. Afterwards, look for the full collection to arrive at retailers beginning January 26 with a percentage of the profits going to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
