The best player in the game? No. But there was a short time frame when Vince Carter was the most exciting man with a basketball in his hand because of moments like these.
Toronto needs to bring back these uniforms.
Yes we do need those uniforms back!
And Vince is the best in game dunker to me. Shame to think of what he could have been given some effort.
SO MUCH POTENTIAL
Best dunker of all time.
He’s also going to pass Larry Bird on all time scoring his season, go figure.
Vince was who he was….a freakish athlete who never really turned the corner to super super star status. If that last second shot would have went down in 2001 against A.I. and Philly I’m sure the narrative of his career would be different. Still….over 21k points in his career.
Man, Toronto Vince, SMH. So much fun to watch.
Entertaining: a terrific dunk artist and that’s about it.
le dunk de la mort on Frédéric Weis
2000 Slam Dunk Contest
Two superhero feats.
Word @ Joseblanc; I was about to mention the olympic dunk myself.
Had he either bypassed going to get his college diploma on thy of a crucial playoff game (game 7 of the Conf semi’s vs the Knicks, I think) or went and completely dominated that game and won his story would be told differently. He didn’t do either and history will remember him as a super-talent who didn’t give his all to the game and thus didn’t fulfill his immense potential…..just don’t call him soft
Nahh, it was vs. Philly. I remember that series vividly.
But you know what I’m talkin about though, Tins.
Vince Carter proved he was a waste of time when while with the Raptors during one of his many stints on the ir he was caught at a Nelly concert dancing on stage.
Vince just stopped caring, and packed in it in those last year or two here. But as a disgruntled Toronto fan, I try and remember the good times.
How the might have fallen.
Aint a damn thang necessary about those ugly ass jerseys. From the fuckin Romper Room font on the numbers to the public access television looking dinosaur and the random ass pin-striping. Sheeeeeeeit, leave them thangs in the landfill where they already are.
Some of his dunks at UNC are considered 25 to life. Can’t be doing stuff like that to kids.
We talk about Vince being lazy but he really did transformed his game from college. Made himself into a decent shooter and when he did he settled for 3`s instead of driving. I’ll remember VC for being one of the best Dunkers in the game tho
i loved that pick… Jesus Shuttlesworth in his old Bucks uni trailing… the Clippers coach looking up. I think I saw Del Negro dunk once in a game. Is that Robert Tractor Trailer bringing up the rear? and a young Doug Christie, too?
Vince was one of those cats–I suspect that in any given season there’s about 25-30% of the League like this–where they play basketball because they’re great at it, because they worked at it and because it pays better than anything else they can do, but deep down inside they can take it or leave it.
I never got the sense that Vince Carter was all in on basketball. I’m not mad at that. Everybody’s got a job–if you’re blessed–that you have whole days, weeks, maybe months that you can’t stand for whatever reason…
Vince balled, but he didn’t have a baller’s heart.
hope he saved his money.
Dude is paid but yeah waste of talent for a person with his abilities. Back when the Clippers were still the clippers my buddy snaked my ticket to the game when Vince did this…. Still haven’t forgiven him for that.
half man, half a season like my man Charles Barkley said
I heard vince admitted that he stopped balling like this cuz he wasn’t able to get those BC buds anymore
like Herren and his heroine
