When it comes to Bay Area Hip-Hop, the contributions of SWTBRDS and the label’s associated acts generally go overlooked. And it shouldn’t be that way. Boasting talent like Shady Blaze and Al Jieh (not to mention DaVinci), they continue bringing a taste of unique, creative energy to the genre. The emcee’s double (and sometimes triple) time flow on “C5 Money Hype” is something that’s easily admired, but not easily replicated. And producer Al Jieh sets an excellent, soulful stage for the Shady Blaze to spaz out over. The end product is definitely something that shouldn’t be skipped over.
