Contrary to popular belief, Ace Hood has a decent share of dope records. The only problem is when they’re singles, he’s often overshadowed by his guest features. And when they’re solo records, they’re often never heard or given much of a shot because it’s not a single. That said, DJ Khaled has always and will always admirably ride for dude meaning where there’s a will, there’s a hard hitting beat and a Rick Ross feature not far away.
“Bugatti” doesn’t exactly break the mold in Ace singles we’ve become accustomed to in the past. I don’t see this catching on like “Hustle Hard” did, but Hood does his best to avoid the feds and those after him while waxing street poetics which aren’t shabby in the least. They just don’t stand out either. Plus, the highlight of the record – which I’m told is a bubbling club banger by a friend who’s a DJ out in Cali – is Future’s hook, bringing us back to square one. When it’s a single, Ace is often overshadowed by his own guest.
