Drake – “Started From The Bottom” Video

By / 02.10.13

Just minutes after winning his very first Grammy (“Best Rap Album” for Take Care) during the show’s pre-telecast, Drake unveils the video for “Started From The Bottom,” the first single off his forthcoming third solo album, Nothing Was The Same.

Re-uniting with “H.Y.F.R.” video director and fellow Toronto native Director X, the duo recapture the zany vibe from their last effort in this part ode to T.O./part island getaway. Kids play soccer. Drake and the Jewish buddies from his theatrical Bar Mitzvah take over a Shoppers Drug Mart (Canadians know what’s up). Then Drizzy and his OVO crew take in some bowling before jetting off to the Dominican Republic.

There’s probably some semblance of a logical narrative at work here, but without overthinking it, the video gives off a celebratory tone that’s probably not far removed from the feeling inside Drake’s camp on this very night.
