The best house parties in college were the ones where the lights remained off, the music was damn near deafening, endless shots were poured in the kitchen and the smokers congregated upstairs. Without speaking for everyone in attendance, French Montana and Nicki Minaj’s new single, “Freaks,” is certainly house party-ready with its inspiration in the bonafide classic “Lil’ Vicious’ Freaks.”
I’ve seen mentions about the record not being anything to write home about, which is fair enough. And, I’m confident in saying this won’t reach the success of 2012’s breakthrough number, “Pop That.” Regardless, hearing Nicki rap sans any quirky voice inflections is always a positive a reminder what she’s capable of beneath all the B.S.
All things considered, however, it’d be pretty difficult to turn down a lap dance to this song faded out of your mind. That’s all I’m saying. Excuse My French drops May 21.
