The Weeknd is a very calculated artist. After flooding the internet with three ambitious mixtapes under a shroud of secrecy in 2011, he spent most of last year getting his face out to the public through his first batch of music videos and extensive touring–this while some of his peers were releasing commercially successful, Grammy Award-winning albums.
Perhaps not surprisingly for an artist who likes to do things his way–and at his pace–The Weeknd seems in no rush to play catch up. And while he’s reportedly in the studio working on new material, for now he appears content to continue the rollout from last year’s boxset release, Trilogy. The latest look from the project is a video for bonus track “Twenty Eight,” and in fitting fashion, the NABIL-directed clip is a ghostly, darkly sexual affair. Very much NSFW.
