Over the past couple of days, there have been three songs named “High,” two dusty-ass tracks about how Hip-Hop was better back in the day and four music video…trailers. Then, amidst all the mediocrity and poor promo attempts, there was “Shapeshift,” this stirring new music video from London group Mt. Wolf.
Pleasantly drowning in arpeggiated bass and tied together by acoustic guitar riffs that will send shivers down your spine, this elevated anthem should make most listeners turn up their speakers and double-check to see if their door is locked. Once you hear lead singer Kate Sproule’s versatile pipes tickling the masterfully-produced single from their upcoming release Hypolight, you’ll inevitably be both entranced and glued to your headphones, whether you intended to be or not.
Rappers, if you really want some attention, flip this track on it’s head with some bars and we’ll talk. In all actuality, this should be a lay-up. But, just remember where you heard it first.
