Rick Ross manages to place his Reeboks in his mouth more than the average person. His most recent SMH-worthy moment came on Rocko’s “U.O.E.N.O.” where he basically condoned date rape by admitting he gets a kick out of slipping mollys in drinks and getting his rocks off afterward. Was it a stupid lyric? Of course. Do we condone abuse against women in any form? Not in the least bit.
However, the situation does come with its own set questions. With the song being out for well over a month before everyone jumped on their moral high horse, why did it take so long? While most of these lines are in very poor taste and definitely deserve criticism I’d still say Ross takes the cake. These guys describe heinous acts but most of them at least recognize them as heinous acts. Big L’s track is not called ‘The Devil’s Son’ for nothing, it’s meant as a first-person view from a maniac and similar arguments could be made for other inclusions. Gibbs’ his line isn’t even first person nor does it condone rape, it’s a decription of horrible shit that goes on in his hood.
Ross on the other hand, doesn’t even recognize he’s talking about rape and actively denies it, since he doesn’t use violence, which is stupid on so many levels. Instead of horrifying, he tries to make it look cool, which easily makes him the worst of all. It’s his recent “explanation” that deserves the backlash even more than the already awful lyric does.
