As the story for “NaNa” goes, JASH, the comedy video site founded by Sarah Silverman, Michael Cera, Tim and Eric and Reggie Watts, gave comedian Hannibal Buress $5000 to direct a music video for rising Chicago artist Chance The Rapper and his track produced by BrandUn DeShay.
Does it cost anywhere near $5K to make a video for upstart MC? Hell no. Rap cats have been pushing videos out on a shoestring budget of weed packs and pats on the back for a while now. So, these guys take full advantage of the extra cash flow on some Brewster’s Millions shit taking place in the streets of L.A., under the direction of Hannibal and Austin Vesely and all for our f*cking entertainment.
Chance’s Acid Rap drops on April 30 and, from then on, he’ll probably have much bigger budgets to toy around with all the time. The kid’s going places.
