Dear MC Loud Pack, Young Backwoods and 98% of artists who made plans of dropping a weed-inspired masterpiece on 4/20,
Just don’t do it. Curren$y and Wiz Khalifa are dropping Live In Concert on Saturday.
I mean, you can drop it if your spirit moves you. Chances are though, with most people already being higher than student loan payments AND the NBA Playoffs tipping off that afternoon, all that money spent purchasing weed and studio time to record the project will be all for naught. In hindsight, we all should’ve see this coming from a mile away, too. Having put the project on ice for sample clearances issues in 2012, the elephant in the room was that Spit Vicious and Papa Wiz had completely scrapped the tape. At some point between this morning’s paper plane and last Thanksgiving, however, the plan was probably etched in stone to drop 4/20 through a blood and weed oath of silence.
The logic makes sense. Being their first full-length collaboration since 2009’s masterpiece, How Fly, and their brief stint of loosies along with Big Sean back in 2011, this is about as anticipated as we’re going to find on rap’s most celebrated (and annoying) holiday. Just putting this out there for future reference, the 19th and the 21st are always available. I’m about 99.999% sure people actually get high on those days, too.
Heed this advice. Or not. It truly makes me no difference at the end of the day because my schedule for the 20th is already set.
A guy who has been waiting on LIC for a long damn time
P.S. – Freddie Gibbs, that 98% of artists referred to earlier? You’re definitely apart of the 2%. Feel free to drop a random five-song EP from the heavens.
