This year’s NCAA tourney Cinderella didn’t make it to the final dance, but their head coach presumably found a glass slipper. Florida Gulf Coast’s Andy Enfield is set to become the new head coach at USC. Athletic director Pat Haden said Enfield has reached an agreement with the Pac-12 school and will be introduced on Wednesday. Terms of the agreement have yet to be released.

The 43-year-old Enfield only coached two seasons at the Ft. Myers, Florida university but found moderate success, amassing a record of 41-28 and his team’s tremendous tourney run that grabbed the attention and hearts of college basketball fans. Clearly, the move is a big step up for Enfield as he will be looked to for help raising Southern California team’s profile out of shadow of the school’s football program and the crosstown Pac-12 rival UCLA, who recently hired their own new head coach, plucking Steve Alford from New Mexico.

“In meeting with Pat Haden, I was very impressed with his vision for the men’s basketball program,” Enfield said in a statement. “I am looking forward to bringing an exciting, up-tempo style of play to USC and building the men’s basketball brand into one that the fans and basketball community will enjoy and respect.”
