Kanye West is being sued again for the repeated sampling of David Pryor’s 1974 song “Bumpin’ Bus Stop.” According to the current copyright owners, Trena Steward and Lorenzo Pryor, Kanye stole a piece of their now deceased father’s record for his 2005 smash hit “Gold Digger” without authorization. Since its release, the Grammy-award winning song has sold over 4 million copies.
The multi-million dollar lawsuit also names Bad Boy Records, Roc-A-Fella Records and other various labels as part of a 15-year “illegal copyright infringement scheme and criminal enterprise involving the unauthorized, willful sampling of plaintiffs original copyrighted music on a massive scale.”
As you may recall, Yeezy was also sued last year for copyright infringement on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Prior to that, he was sued for unauthorized sampling on The Throne’s Watch The Throne, which was later settled.
