Beware’s known as the guy who often finds the diamond in the rough through all the submissions TSS receives. So when he recommended L.atasha A.lcindor and Dayne Jordan’s “Red Light, Green Light” saying the record was dope, his word was taken. Too bad Beware was tremendously off base. It’s better than dope.
A.lcindor and Jordan take turns snapping over this Freshnerd production in one of the livelier back-and-forth records in a New York minute. Forget labeling this impressive for the gender. That’s shortchanging what will transpire over the next two minutes and 41 seconds. “Red Light…” is impressive for anyone, regardless of reproductive organ, because Jay-Z could ghostwrite a verse for yours truly and I’d never be able to sound this comfortable behind a microphone ripping beats to angel hair linguini noodles. Expect new music from L.A. every Tuesday in preparation for April 30 and her Spark EP which happens to be in preparation for her LALytes full-length album dropping later this year.
I guess my only question now is sort of an ignorant one. Is she somehow related to the great Lew Alcindor aka Kareem-Abdul Jabaar aka the guy from that new ABC show Splash?
