How good is the Chinese food in your area? Well, for a Michigan six-year-old, it’s good enough to steal the family car and drive three miles for.
Early Saturday morning, stunned Lapeer County motorists spotted and stopped an unidentified six-year-old boy driving erratically a Ford Taurus station wagon on the highway. The young driver, whose parents were asleep and unaware of their son’s morning jaunt, told officers that he was on his way to a Chinese food restaurant he and his family ate from the night before.
Prior to being stopped, the boy’s wayward driving caused him to hit a street sign that resulted in the car’s bumper being cracked. When officers asked how he learned to drive, the boy, who had moved the driver’s seat all the way forward, told officers that he watched his father do it.
Officers contacted the boy’s father and the two left the scene in the damaged vehicle. No word on whether or not charges will be filed.
