Chris Kelly, one half of the ’90s teenage rap duo Kris Kross, died on Wednesday in an Atlanta hospital. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the rapper, age 34, was found unresponsive in home and transported to Atlanta Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Kelly, along with rhyme partner Chris Smith, shot to stardom at age 13 after being discovered by Jermaine Dupri. They were best known wearing their clothes backwards while reciting mature, witty rhymes. Musically, the 1992 album Totally Krossed Out sold millions of copies and spawned the hit song “Jump,” which stayed about the pop charts for eight weeks.
