Depending upon whom collaborates with Converse, the finished product will either be gold or complete trash. Converses are simplistic shoes by their nature, whether it’s the Chuck Taylor or the Pro Leather, and additions to the minimalist frames just work or don’t work.
Recently, avant-garde fashion darling Comme des Garcons PLAY reunited with Converse to put its spin on the Pro Leather, and the Japanese company’s kicks work, although fans have to be alright with rocking hearts on their feet. The shoes will feature an all-over, randomly placed signature PLAY heart pattern, which means–besides being stamped with hearts–no two pairs of shoes will be the same.
Those interested can check Dover Street Market’s website and the New York City Comme des Garcons store on May 28 for the shoes. They come in both mid-top and Ox silhouettes and will retail for between $130-140.
