Add to 2 Chainz to the list of rappers who’ve been caught slipping by real life goons. According to police, the rapper was robbed in San Francisco while out with his entourage Sunday afternoon.
Police say 2 Chainz was uncooperative when they responded to a shots-fired call at around 4:30pm. When they arrived, 2 Chainz simply told them that he was relieved of his wallet and wanted to handle the situation himself.
A San Francisco sergeant tells TMZ that video footage of the incident shows the rapper and his 14-person entourage running away from the incident “like cockroaches running from a flashlight.”
Police are investigating the case.
Update: Looks like there’s a twist in the narrative as SF police are indicating that a robbery did take place but it didn’t involve 2 Chainz. Instead, it was a member of his entourage who was the direct victim. “He was not the victim of a robbery,” San Francisco police said in a phone call Monday (June 9). “He was there, but he wasn’t the victim.” The cops also indicate that 2 Chainz and company are, indeed, being uncooperative.
Update #2: After conflicting reports earlier, the San Francisco Police Department confirms that 2 Chainz was, in fact, the victim of a robbery at gunpoint Sunday afternoon, per Radio.com. Police spokesman Dennis Toomer told Radio that the information he had originally was correct but later investigators informed him that the victim was actually 2 Chainz.
