Apparently, the story of Mac Miller’s Watching Movies With The Sound Off is also the story of a baby sea turtle, one who’s just trying to make it in that big old bucket of blue.
Well not really, but the oft-unsettling Nick Stringer-directed visuals behind Mac’s sophomore album stream–a LP which drops tomorrow, mind you–befits the lugubriousness and droopiness of the whole thing. But don’t get it twisted: this isn’t bad. It’s a twist on the old Mac, who’s shown introspection before, and proves that the guy’s more than just snapbacks and Pittsburgh pool parties. He’s getting existential and loquaciously weird here, so don’t mind the sea turtles. They totally have a point.
Head over to Mac’s website to watch the film and listen to the whole album. Guests include Flying Lotus, ScHoolboy Q and Jay Electronica, among others. Fans can pick up Watching Movies With The Sound Off – sans turtles – tomorrow.
