That man the NBA had been pushing down your throat all season long is reportedly “taking legal action” against Pharrell and his i am OTHER brand citing copyright infringement. Apparently, somehow, some way, will.i.am now owns the trademark for “I AM.” No you can’t make that Kanye-inspired shirt that reads I AM A F*CKING GOD. You will be sued, sir.
In court documents obtained by Rolling Stone, will.i.am is aruging that “Pharrell would be using his ‘i am OTHER’ brand on clothing and other items similiar to the goods that bear his own ‘I AM’ logo.” And that the registration will “likely dilute the I AM mark and the WILL.I.AM mark.” Yes, heaven forbid anyone confuses will.i.am’s crap with Pharrell’s.
Being the good guy that he is, Pharrell actually tried to reach out to will.i.so.am.a.dick before the entertainer got the lawyers involved. In a statement to Rolling Stone, Pharrell says:
“I am disappointed that Will, a fellow artist, would file a case against me. I am someone who likes to talk things out and, in fact, I attempted to do just that on many occasions. I am surprised in how this is being handled and I am confident that Will’s trademark claims will ultimately be found to be as meritless and ridiculous as I do.”
I hope so, too! will.i.am’s reign of terror must end! Seriously, I hate that guy. However, he once did punch smegma of the Internet Perez Hilton but that only knocked off about 5% of the hate.
