Based off the official trailer – because I missed this one – Hollywood didn’t, but I feel the need to say again. Hollywood, for the love of everything Black cinema, please don’t screw this Best Man sequel up. Pretty please? The predecessor was just too damn good.
This November 15, the long rumored and awaited The Best Man Holiday hits theaters nationwide. The same cast of characters from Taye Diggs, Nia Long, Morris Chestnut, Harold Perrineau, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Monica Calhoun, Melissa De Sousa and Regina Hall are involved including a few fresh faces. And that’s the main draw into a movie of this ilk, at least from my vantage. If the characters remain exactly the same, that’s the first step in securing some sense of comfort before committing to purchase a ticket. We felt like we all went to college with them.
With its fair share of surprises, twists and turns, I’m confident in saying I’ll be talking the lady to see this. Preferably a matinee, but still. Support is support. Has it really been nearly 15 years since the original though? Sheesh, time really does fly.
