The TDE boys have been laying low lately, presumable to keep focus on Kendrick’s relentless tour schedule and to build anticipation for ScHoolboy’s OxyMoron. But they’re throwing the fans a little curve ball by the name of “Christopher DRONEr,” apparently due to unwavering demands from Ab-Soul fans.
If there was one member of Black Hippy sure to make invoking the name of Christopher Dorner, it was going to be the The Black Lip Pastor. In particular, he speaks on the lack of independent thinking in today’s society and even goes as far as encouraging people to follow Dorner’s example (to a degree) and stand up to any perceived injustice.
The newly liberated track is all things Soul: questioning, confrontational and unwavering. Produced by Digi+Phonics’ Willie B, it’s a little throwback to the days when TDE kept everything completely in-house with their own secret formula. And, as Ab says, “This ain’t no manifest-o, you n*ggas know me.”
Yes, it’s the familiarity that we always welcome.
