Although it was originally thought that actor/comedian/screenwriter/rapper Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino was going to focus more on his emcee skills and fall back from acting, a mysterious clip surfaced recently featuring the multi-talented award winner and some notable guest stars. No one really had any idea what the clip was tied to, but luckily we didn’t have to wait long to have all revealed.
Clocking in at around 25 minutes, “Clapping for the Wrong Reasons” is a short film written by Glover and directed by Hiro Murai (the guy behind Earl’s “Chum”). Almost like a documentary, the film is vague with its intentions or meaning but appears to be an “ordinary” day in the life of the successful Donald Glover, which entails hanging out with Chance The Rapper, Trinidad Jame$, Flying Lotus, Danielle Fishel (aka Topanga!), and Abella Anderson at one of those uber-chic L.A. homes that all the “cool” and rich young stars and starlets probably own and hang out at. With scenes ranging from making beats, picking fruit, and telling really weird stories, I can’t really say what the film is about.
Instead, I ask you guys to check it out and draw your own conclusions in the comments section. It’s Friday, I know you’ve got time to blow at work.
