“#DopeFrancis (American Trap)” is Lupe’s latest step toward the trail that Charles Hamilton walked down one day, never to return. Per contemporary Wasalu standards, the song oscillates between lyrical flashes of brilliance and his dope metaphors to plain gibberish like this. The trap is as mainstream as ever, and Mr. Inkredible provides the beat for Lu to help keep it there.
Overnight, Lupe also decided to re-up on 2010’s “SLR (Super Lupe Rap)” by releasing a new follow-up in response to *extended drumroll* Kendrick Lamar. Well, maybe not a direct response but we’ll assume KDot’s the impetus since Fiasco remarks “we all heard what he said, well what he said mean we dead, and that shit is insane.” Currently, there’s only one “he” with a target on his back so…draw your own conclusions after listening below.
Peace of Paper/Cup of Jayzus will be out on September 11th.
