It’s an automatic that rappers know they have to put on their big boy pants before stepping in the booth with Scarface. Most recently, Chip did it on his “If I Die Today” and Tez does the same when Uncle Brad serves up game on “Showtime.”
In what’s become the standard setup, each artist’s role comes clearly defined – Tez plays the young one on the come-up, trying to handle the game while maintaining a bit of integrity, while ‘Face stands over his shoulder dispersing jewels to be tucked away for the long haul. The rap version of Sonny reminding Calogero that nobody cares but that doesn’t mean that he shouldn’t.
“Showtime” will be included on McClain’s Free Lunch: My Last Tape.
