“Hate Me On The Low” is full of treachery, and Tory Lanez’s self-directed, open-ended video leans on the viewer to decide on just how deep that deception runs. Frankly, there is something a little weak about his Auto-Tuned crooning about how he “thought they were friends, pretend, pretend, pretend” – not the sounds but the content – but no matter how much shade I might throw, I can’t bring myself to hate the song. Lanez might occupy the same lanes as a bunch of other dope artists, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t good at what he’s doing.
His latest release, Conflicts Of My Soul, is out now and can be downloaded here if you like what’s emitted from the speakers courtesy of “Hate Me…”
