Disclaimer: This is not a write-up on the Air Jordan AJXX8 SE. At least not these all-over camouflage pattern versions, mostly because I’m not a huge fan of camo on footwear. Even for an everyday camo cap wearer such as myself, that’s doing too much or it’s just not an option because head-to-toe camo is too G.I. Joe for my tastes. However, I get these because green camo is in and the other two colorways go for Georgetown and North Carolina, meaning the shoes will probably look amazing on court.
Then what’s the draw with these?
“The AIR JORDAN XX8 SE features the same technological advances as its predecessor, but removes the shroud to give consumers a look at the technology on the upper. The upper, which features a full inner sleeve made of sandwich mesh enhancing ventilation and reducing irritation, provides an aggressive aesthetic for the games most dynamic athletes.”
Yes, Jordan Brand removed that shroud. Backhanded compliment? No, it’s called being honest.
No matter how many good things I had trusted friends and people in the JB camp telling me about the comfort and performance, the XX8 just wasn’t working for me with the shroud included. But without it, now I can look forward to picking up a pair of these and trying the Flight Plate technology that everyone says is insane.
Plus, $150 isn’t a bad price at all.
All three of these colorways release today via Nike.com and other retailers. Additionally, a royal blue, orange and yellow camo (inspired by Russell Westbrook) version will be available nationwide on Wednesday, Oct. 23. That is if camo sneakers are your thing.
