It’s times like these when it’s hard to hate LeBron James. Through every profile and interview I’ve ever read about the guy, his connection not only to his teammates but also fans* is the one recurring strand that’s always evident. And in their latest ad spot titled “Training Day,” Nike Basketball and LeBron show the reigning MVP going through a rigorous training regiment while hundreds of faces follow the path lockstep with him. To boost the appeal, ad agency Wieden + Kennedy rang up Mike WiLL Made-It for the track “My Shoes” and award-winning recording artist John Legend to score the spot.
YouTube commenter Skittz23 noted “Lebron lives in coral gables ill bring my? bike tomorrow” [sic] And, sure, “Training Day” was made for TV and marketing appeal. But, it’s not hard to imagine the ‘Bron would meet fans at the gate of his home and do the same even if the camera’s weren’t around.
* — Just ask Ohio native James Blair, a guy dubbed as LBJ’s biggest fan.
