The NBA season kicked off last with the much anticipated Heat-Bulls match-up. The storylines were abundant: Derrick Rose’s first game back in action, the King celebrating a decade in the league, potential East Conference Finals preview, Miami’s quest for a third consecutive ring, et cetera. But, by the end of the first half, the buzz fizzled as the Heat rode a 37 point second quarter to a sizable lead and ended up winning the contest 107-95.
After 18 months off, Rose is obviously still working off the rust. Under constant pressure on the offensive end, he finished with 12 points on 4-for-15 shooting with five turnovers in 34 minutes. There are still some kinks to be fixed on the defensive end, too, as he found himself the staggered vic of a Norris Cole crossover that made the night’s highlight reel.
