Roger Goodell To Talk To Native American Tribe About “Redskins” Name, Remains Clueless

Mayor Bloomberg And NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Announce Super Bowl Charitable Projects

Words by Alec Bojalad

Now that even President Obama has weighed in on the Washington Redskins nickname controversy, the actual President of the U.S., NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell has decided it might be worth his attention.

While Redskins owner/cartoon super villain, Daniel Snyder remains adamant about keeping the name, the NFL has announced that they will be meeting with tribal leaders from the Oneida Indian nation next month to discuss the “Redskins” name and mascot.

Some would say it’s absurd to schedule a meeting with just one of the 562 federally recognized tribes of the United States. But at least Roger Goodell sounds super pumped about it saying, “I don’t know what the meeting is intended to do. I did not ask for the meeting. It’s not my meeting. I’m not calling for the meeting. The Oneida Nation is.”

Meanwhile, Rick Reilly has decided that having a multimillion dollar sports franchise named after a racial epithet is okay because his Native American friends are okay with it and let him say the “r” word when they’re rapping along to tribal Hip-Hop radio stations.

RGIII just needs to announce that he wants the team to be called the Washington Pink Sox and end this once and for all.
