It is of this author’s personal opinion that Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly represent Hollywood’s absolute best comedic tag team. The Apatow regulars are always funny, and there are some great TV ensembles out there (The League and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia in particular). But, as they made incredibly clear in Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby and Step Brothers, Ferrell and Reilly are the team to beat. Which is why fans of comedy should be more than thrilled about upcoming Devil’s Night, which promises to reunite the two stars.
The premise seems pretty linear: the two middle-aged men take the famed pranking day before Halloween a bit too seriously, punking themselves before uniting to bring down disorderly youths threatening to take their throne. Considering that sounds like 75% of the the Step Brothers plot, we should all be excited. These movies aren’t about intricate scripts, after all. Just put those two guys in front of a camera, and let them be funny.
