NBA Jams: Watch Isiah Thomas Co-Hosting ‘Rap City’ Way Back In 1995

By 11.06.13

Who knew MuchMusic’s Rap City would one day become a great archival source for NBA interviews? First, there was Steve Nash repping the Canadian national team (which coincidentally he now the GM of) and showing his early appreciation for Nas, and now we get footage of former Rap City VJ Oliver being taken to school by Hall-of-Famer Isiah Thomas in a friendly game of one-on-one.

At the time, Thomas was getting ready to serve as GM of the Toronto Raptors for what would be their inaugural season. The Raptors didn’t win a whole lot during Isiah’s reign – boy, have things changed! – but he did draft my first favorite player, Damon Stoudamire (not to mention Tracy McGrady a couple of years later).

Somehow, I don’t think Knicks fans are as forgiving.
