John Legend sits down to perform for NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts series and it will remind of when the singer first emerged on the scene. For me, it was in our Stray Shots, every time I’d find some acoustic performance or recorded live sets like Live At The House Of Blues, Knitting Factory… and Jazz Cafe… from what seems like ages ago. No matter how big and bright his star’s gotten, he can still sit down in the most intimate of settings armed with nothing more than a piano and his voice and captivate listeners.
For NPR, he performs “Made To Love” and his 12 Years A Slave song “Move,” while he also spends a few minutes explaining his work producing the film’s soundtrack and how the slave narrative held an extremely close connection to his own family history.
