As alluded to last week, Sevyn Streeter and Chris Brown’s “It Won’t Stop” is one of the year’s better R&B singles in this writer’s humble opinion. Expect the single to land on Streeter’s Call Me Crazy, But… EP set to drop next month as an early Christmas present. Before then, however, the songstress provides listeners with a pre-Thanksgiving course with the as-expected-in-2013 early stream of the project.
What proves to be quite the intimate listen with its fair share of bedroom-catered tunes as well as introspective numbers, Streeter says of the title:
“The ‘But’ is very important because it’s basically talking about the cycles of a relationship. The up, the downs; the good, the bad; the pretty and the ugly,” she told The Boombox. “These are things that you go through in relationships because a lot of times you get into it with your significant other and you’re like, ‘Oh my God. He’s acting crazy.’
“But if you hear them out, there’s a reason for being like this. “’Call Me Crazy, But…’ you just told me you were going to do one thing and you did the complete opposite. ‘Call Me Crazy, But…’ didn’t you just lie about this.”
Of her debut album, tentatively titled Sevyn, the songwriter/singer says expect a continuation of Crazy. Judging from what’s heard on the EP, that’s not a bad direction to head in either. Call Me Crazy, But… officially releases on December 3.
