Not too many rappers had a better 2013 than Chance The Rapper. Sure, others may have pulled in more cake or picked up larger awards. But for sheer buzz and appeal, Chance and Acid Rap was the it-guy. Here was a kid from Chicago largely overlooked outside the city limits who ended up performing on a few of the largest festival stages, covered the map with Mac Miller first before embarking on his own Social Experiment tour.
“With little budget, experience or time for preparation, the team and I put together this #SocialExperiment Tour 2013. My first Tour. 43 shows. 18 person crew. 4 piece band. 1 Tour bus. 1 raw ass RV. This video represents positivity, love, friendship, musicianship, support and a whole lot of hard work. Big thanks and a Merry Xmas to every single person that made this possible, and everyone else who supported me like crazy this year.”
The video’s composed of captured images from the tour and what sounds like a new track, perhaps. Chano can be heard speaking in the footage, thanking his fanbase for being a source of support, stating “I just want to keep building.” Given the way the pieces are falling into place, bridging the gap from this year to next should be an easy bet.
