BCS Rankings: Florida State Tops, Ohio State Beats Out Auburn For No. 2 After Crazy Weekend

By 12.01.13

And there you have it. The No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes hold a slight edge over No. 3 Auburn for that precious last spot in the BCS National Championship game, with a 0.9503 computer average to Auburn’s 0.9233. The Buckeyes, as you might recall, survived an upset scare from rival Michigan on Saturday, outlasting the Wolverines 42-41, while the Tigers pulled another victory from Satan’s asshole to stun then-No. 1-ranked Alabama, 34-28.

The Crimson Tide didn’t fall far from its previous perch, sliding to No. 4 behind Auburn. Auburn’s SEC Championship opponent, Missouri, takes the No. 5 spot, as Oklahoma State, Stanford, South Carolina, Baylor and Ohio State’s B1G Championship foe, Michigan State, round out the top 10.

But, of course, no one cares about who’s holding what spot outside No. 1-3 (unless you’re from Dekalb, Illinois, and then you’re watching the No. 14 Northern Illinois Huskies try to bust the BCS for a second year running), which means college football fans will be inundated with think piece after hot take tripe for the next week, debating whether Ohio State deserves to be No. 2 over Auburn.

There’s still one crucial week of games left–the conference championships–so hopefully fans will get the clean decision that the BCS system has typically always provided. Put the talking heads on mute until then… Or just throw your thoughts into the comment section.
