John Wall Attempted To Block A Greg Monroe Dunk And It Didn’t End Well

By / 12.31.13

The NBA’s version of Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin it is not, but for some reason Greg Monroe likes picking on John Wall.

You may remember the video above. Houston played host to 2012 All-Star Weekend and the Rookie/Sophomore game lived up to its billing, highlighted by poor Brandon Knight getting caught on the wrong end of a Kyrie Irving crossover. With Chuck’s team up by 15 with less than 20 seconds remaining in the game, Wall planned to give the fans a little razzle dazzle with a Dunk Contest-worthy dunk.

Only we’ll never know because Greg Monroe pulled an act I’m still scratching my head about nearly two years later. There’s the competitive aspect that says Greg did the right thing by not allowing a bucket under any circumstances. Then there’s the flip side that says, “C’mon, man, don’t be that guy.”

Fast forward to last night where Monroe and Wall’s paths crossed again on a fast break. There’s no way to tell if John was attempting to extract revenge, but the face of the Wizards decided it’d be best to contest a dunk from a sprinting 6’10” Monroe on fast break. To his credit, Wall does have bounce, but…um…

Monroe – 2
Wall – 0
