Jabari Parker Went All Dunk Crazy On Eastern Michigan + Kentucky, Syracuse Secure Big Home Wins

By / 12.29.13

One of the first lessons coaches preach is securing the easiest possible shot. It’s good to know Duke’s Jabari Parker hasn’t forgotten this nugget.

The No. 9 Blue Devils coasted past Eastern Michigan 82-59 and the all-world freshmen finished with 23 points and eight rebounds on 9-20 from the floor. Five of those nine made buckets came in the form of a dunk, two of which occurred directly after the opening tip.

Also on the collegiate hardwood yesterday, the battle of the Bluegrass State went down as the No. 6 Louisville Cardinals traveled to Rupp Arena to take on John Calipari’s No. 18 Kentucky Wildcats. Before leg cramps got the best of him in the second half, super-freshman Julius Randle logged 17 points on a near-perfect 7-8 from the field. It was fellow diaper dandy James Young who picked up the slack helping lead UK to the 73-66 win with 18 points and 10 rebounds despite a not-so-hot 5-17 shooting.

He’s not receiving a heap of praise a la Randle, Parker, Wiggins and Gordon, but Syracuse’s Tyler Ennis is quietly one of the better freshmen in the country. The trio of him, C.J. Fair and Trevor Cooney combined for 58 points and 13 rebounds as the No. 2 Orangemen rallied by former Big East rival No. 11 Villanova 78-62.
