Every gentrified city reaches a point where the poor, struggling, under served citizens that have made that city home for years. get tired of being ignored. Lightshow speaks to the legion of DC natives who don’t benefit from overpriced condos and hipster-filled gastropubs on his latest mixtape Life Sentence 2.
Lightshow first made a name for himself with a scene-stealing verse on Wale’s mixtape track “Georgetown Press.” On his latest tape, he continues to carve out a space for himself in the increasingly competitive DC music community. His unique delivery, elongated syllables stretch from his voice like a rubberband then fire out each bar, combines with gritty, street-centered, content with exciting results.
