Not even 36 hours after learning of Boosie’s impending August 18, 2014, release date, comes yet another update. According to NOLA.com, Boosie’s brother (also his manager) says the controversial MC will be home much sooner – as in February 16.
Taquari Hatch states the original Aug. 18, 2014 wasn’t accurate due to a slow down in the paperwork process at the Louisiana Department of Safety and Corrections. According to his brother, Boosie’s date will be pushed up due to rehabilitation classes completed recently, bumping his date up to May 2014. But, once Boosie finishes two additional classes, the magic number moves all the way up to February 16, 2014.
The sudden influx of news over the past two days comes off a bit overwhelming. Release dates for inmates are sort of like mock NBA/NFL drafts. Everyone can predict where someone will fall, but at the end of the day, no one knows until the gates are opened or a name called. Plus, it’s so easy to have dates pushed back for even the smallest infractions in the belly of the beast.
Yet, on the opposite hand, there’s this. Remember when Jeff Weiss tweeted on September 13 Boosie’s lawyers said while an exact release date couldn’t be confirmed, Boo wouldn’t be locked up any longer than four or five months from “today?” February 16 is damn-near exactly five months later.
Only time’ll tell if Boosie’s brother is The Soothsayer of Baton Rouge. But let’s say he does walk out a free man come February 16. Know what else happens that day? The 2014 NBA All Star Game…in New Orleans. You already know where I’m going with this. Make that court side seat happen, Adam Silver!
