Mike Posner couldn’t have made a better video for “Top Of The World.” Nope. Not possible.
Meant to inspire those of us whose appetite is never settled, the lead single from his upcoming Pages project is a huge, singalong radio killer, filled with an equal amount of humbled charm and sheer confidence.
The corresponding visual finds Posner fulfilling a bevy of boyhood fantasies, as a result of said musical success, intentionally proving that “a normal kid from Michigan can be living his dreams.”
And that he does. Aside from hooping at The Palace with a Kyle Singer jersey on (he’s a Duke grad), Posner can be seen in uniform at Ford Field and Comerica Park, then posing down on Jefferson Ave. with Big Sean and Pavel Datsyuk. If that’s not enough, he’s also shown at assemblies that were seemingly thrown for him at his former high school and elementary. Then, there’s Mike’s immediate family and Finally Famous crew, who are prominently featured throughout.
Basically, to anyone who grew up in Metro Detroit and has lofty aspirations of taking their craft to the next level, this is the quintestional come up video and proof that anything is possible. And, considering I was raised less than five miles away from Mike Posner and overtime grind every day to see the above and beyond my damn self, I can vouch for the fact this video succeeds in providing some always needed positive reinforcement to the people who need it most.
