Okay. We’ve got good news and bad news as it relates to the long-awaited Clipse reunion. As we all know, it’s been four years since them Thornton boys released Hell Hath No Fury, which means it’s been four years we’ve been playing the waiting game.
The bad news? We’re going to have to wait longer. The good news? We’ve already been waiting four long, cock-teasing years so what’s another 247374542647 years, right?
The man responsible for my drug queenpin dreams spoke with BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe about the possibility of a new Clipse album recently. According to Pusher, the sh*t just isn’t happening right now. And you can blame the big G.O.D because No Malice’s on a “mission” that not even racks on racks on racks can waver him from.
Push revealed that his brother turned down “high dollar” for a series of dates to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Lord Willin’, the rap duo’s classic 2002 debut album. “We had the 10th anniversary of Lord Willin.’ 30 dates, needless to say, high dollar number. High dollar, already done,” recalled the rapper. “Two weeks before it’s time to go, my brother was like, ‘Nah, I don’t wanna do it. I’m off that, I’m on my mission right now.’ You know, it’s about Hear Ye Him. It’s about where he is spiritually. And he was like, ‘Nah, I’m not going to do it. Just ya know… go ‘head.'”
And it’s not just Push getting denied. Yeezus can’t budge Malice either. “Kanye was like, ‘Listen! I wanna executive produce this. If you just want Pharrell to produce the whole thing, that’s fine. If not, I’ll just be here, too.’ And he’s [No Malice] like, ‘Alright now.'”
Welp, if Black Hole of Creativity can’t persuade him, we’re screwed. If only life worked in a way where you can do tradesies with God. I’m not really checking for 2013’s Mase. Are you?
